If you can boondock where you can run a generator, that's the route I would take. The solar prep is nearly worthless and a whole solar system can be an expensive headache. A 3000w is plenty to charge batteries and even run an a/c. One thing you may need to research is whether you have enough battery to supply your needs for at least 12 hours or so.
