Are they amplifiers or hearing aids? for the past 4 years I've had a couple different brands, from Sams Club and then Eargo ($3,000.00) Then i figured out they were only amplifying the sounds I didn't want to hear, background TV, etc. Finally went to a hearing professional, now I can hear and understand conversations in restaurants, rooms with TV on in the background, etc.
