davidaf, When I was setting up for ham radio I did not want to make any holes in the unit that could not be put back to original, that is why I brought the coax in the way I did. If I were going to bring coax in another way I would look at doing it from the slide floor on the outer side and use some kind of box with a closeable lid to protect the barrel fittings during travel. I don't like things that show and don't like making holes in my sidewalls...

I use single ham sticks, they mount into a mobile spring mount on a custom aluminum bracket mounted at the top of my ladder above the roof. I carry 10, 15, 20, 40 and 80 with me but do not use the radio a lot. My VHF antenna also is mounted on this bracket. I have a large amount of noise on HF from the converter and have to actually shut it off when operating on weaker signals. I have seen the TransWorld antenna and it looks great.
