Thanks everyone for your responses. I guess I worded my question wrong. I understand how a heat pump operates but was curious about the thermostat setting. My question should have been If I have my thermostat set on 72 will it maintain 72 whether it be cooling or heating like you can set a home thermostat on an automatic setting. Thanks everyone.
