Thought about using round. You have to shape the spacer to the round bar and whatever you bolted on with will not sit nicely on the round stock.
No matter what you use to link the latches together you will be amazed at how little effort it takes to open the door afterwards.
I suppose I could have used EMT conduit I have laying around
