Definitely old school simple piece of bi metal. But except for the one to the pump there has rarely been a problem with them. When I needed to replace mine about the time I was getting ready to leave on a trip and no time to order the better one, I simply connected two of the cheap 40 amp auto style breakers in parallel to functionally temporarily get an 80 amp rating. That was 8 or 10 years ago and it still works fine. Temporary sorta became permanent.
