With the MCD roll up shades you want to travel with shades rolled UP... here’s why..
Inside the tube there is a black plastic auto stop wheel mounted on one end.. the plastic stop wheel has three small raised tips that press against inside the tube to hold shade position..
With shades full down while traveling this lets the shade flop around constantly tugging on the auto stop plastic wheel..
Sooner or later the 3 raised tips wear off due to this and the shades usually roll all the way down.
You can either order a new auto stop end or take it apart and using a solder iron lightly touch 3 different locations on the edge of the wheel. This will melt the plastic slightly creating a “raised spot” on the wheel so that now the auto stop will hold again..
