I use to put it on the hitch handle but no more! A Canadian friend I met in AZ said in Canada it is not legal to hook it on the hitch, it must be attached to the bed of the truck. The reasoning was if the hitch connection failed the cable may not engage. I now hook mine onto my B&W gooseneck safety cable ubolts in the bed.
