We like everything about the V-10. It has served our needs 100%. We will not compare the Diesel/Gas as they are apples/oranges.We purchase based on needs and our needs have changed. When we purchased in Feb of 05 we were weekend/ short trip campers, camped maybe 40 /50 days a year, The truck was a tow vehicle only. When it was not pulling it was parked in the driveway. Stored in the winter.Put 8500 miles on it in 22 months.
(we also buy on the Ford Family plan so we buy Ford for the savings and..we did not care for the Ford 6.0 diesel motor)Helen has now retired and we are long timers. We have been out for 34 days and are 2900 miles into our winter adventure. It will be near 7000 miles before we return to Ohio. We expect to do 20/30K miles a year from here out.Our criteria for the diesel motor has been posted many times on the forum. Will you drive 25,000 miles a year or more, will you keep the truck for 5 years or more. Will you do a lot of driving and pulling in the mountains..will it be your daily driver. Our answer to all those questions now is.....yes.... A diesel is justified.... We will not discuss fuel milage..the diesel is better of course. However..if Fuel Mileage was the primary reason for purchasing the TV we would still have the Ford Ranger and a pop up camper..not the monster we pull.

We purchased the V-10 based on our camping needs. It was the perfect choice for us and our needs. Our needs now require the diesel.

Also..At this stage of our lifes, We are both retired, we are free to do as we want when we want to. We do not know how much time we have to enjoy life and our great adventure. We do not spend money foolishly( although There are those that would say camping is foolish) but we do not dwell on the price of fuel.. gas or diesel. We do not crunch numbers on how long it will take to make up the difference by buying the diesel vs gas. We do not stay in Wall mart or K mart parking lots.We do not calculate MPG or how much per mile it cost to camp. We will buy a new truck evey year if we feel we need to.. We will run full ahead till we run out of money.. but we will have lived our great adventure..our way..All of this applies to us only. Tim..Look at what you need..then see if you can do it.
