That is country that does not have much near by. There is a campground in Chinle next to the area. This has only a dump station. Have heard very mixed reviews regarding this campground. When we visited the Canyon we stayed at the place below and made the drive.
About the closest place with a nice campground that I know of is in Bluff, UT. The Cadillac Ranch Campground. This is nearly 100 miles away. If you have a few days there are many places to drive to from Bluff. We spend time each year in Bluff and after about 5 years still find areas to visit that we have not been to before.
Hopefully some others have been in that area and are aware of other places.
