I don't think it was stiction either, nor do I think it was a tank dropping. I experienced a similar loud noise once when setting up, and I don't think it was a jack. My conclusion was a brake set locked up as I was backing up, and when I took the weight off as it was leveling, it broke loose with a loud bang. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
