Ours builds ice In the freezer, too. However, since we fulltime, ours has been on, more or less, since 12/13/2008, when we get ice buildup, I deal with it by turning it off for brief periods of time to let the freezer compartments thaw while preserving the refer foods by not opening the doors.

When we were part-timing, we would leave the refer on, while plugged in at the storage facility, with no food in the refer so we were ready to go when we wanted to.
