Something else to consider is the placement of the temp sensor. I thought it was in the thermostat. However, some ac units have the sensor in the return air supply plenum. I considered moving my kitchen thermostat away from my coffee maker, thinking the heat was interfering with room temperature reading. On those 100°F days I have to keep the thermostat setting at 55°.... anything higher causes the ac to shut off. BTW keeping temp set this low maintains a comfortable 72°.
