Go to that station and get some fuel. Smelling fuel is not a test that is BS. Go to the station and get some fuel and have both tested. Your insurance might pick up the cost. If your low pressure pump went out that would starve the HPFP for fuel and ruin it. When HPFP goes out it takes every thing down line with it. Doesn't matter if it's GM Dodge or Ford.
You need to find out what happened to that low pressure pump. If that pump went out on its own the ball is over in Fords court.
