Small loads=1/2 full drum, also I find 1-2 tsp of detergent is plenty, the splendide rep said use vinegar once a month to remove soap scum, I use vinegar instead of fabric softener so I got that problem solved. I only dry towels and sheets and hang every thing else. Love our combo
