We have a 2006 Megacab with the 5.9 and have had no problem with it in 96,000 miles except a very small coolant leak at about 40,000 miles. The one thing I wish was better is the turning radius. Maybe all the 1 tonners have the same issue, but I wish it was better. Ours is 2WD not 4WD and so far the 2Wd has never been a problem, but in the winter we escape to warmer climes so I haven't tested the truck in icy conditions. As a separate issue- the newer diesels ( all of the big 3) are much quieter than the 2006 is.
I added an exhaust brake early in the towing game and I would never have a truck without it if I was going to pull heavy loads. BTW the oem michelins are still pretty decent at 96,000 miles. I wish they built a line of ST tires- maybe they are too smart to mess with it.
