We were there in 2010. To get the Crater Lake Blue in your photos you need a blue sky with just a few white clouds. If it is overcast with cloud cover--the water will reflect the grey sky. We had a great day with blue sky + a few clouds and late in the day the overcast moved in. By staying afew days you should be able to get great color.
