I, too, have horrible allergies and usally new carpet bothers me real bad but when we purchased our unit several years ago, I did not have any problems. I think it is what you are allergic to that matters. Hopefully, you won't be bothered. Running your fantastic fsn should help. And although we are always concerned with to much moisture in our units, water does help to disspell allergy odors. If you are bothered, try putting out some pans or bowls of water and running the fans.
