I don't know about the new ones, but last year when we bought ours, the "eye burn" was fierce. My wife too has allergies that seem to be extra sensitive to some things, and a week after I no longer noticed the smell or burn, it still bothered her. We got our trailer in August...very hot, and the hotter it was, with the trailer closed, the worse the smell/eye burn. But in a couple of weeks and cooler temps, it went away.
