The keyless entrys I had just had a key pad with numbers on it. There was a battery on the inside that lasted for years..If the battery went dead, you could still use a key you had previously stashed to get in. It was just a deadbolt. You still used your same door knob you always had. Thanks for all the conversation. Hopefully, I won't ask a dumb question, and shoot myself in the foot!! ha ha..
