With most types of O-rings used in industry we use a silicone grease when we install new O-rings so when I do some maintenace on the toilet , that is what I will use. So far, our toilet has worked fine with just releasing the pedal slowly. It has never leaked and our unit is almost a year old . So far not one warranty problem. Touch Wood.
