We did both of these upgrades and never looked back. When we sold the rig it wasn't my intention to try to recoup the investment dollars from the upgrade. With that in mind I still would not buy another rig without both disc brakes and IS. For some it's a tough decision in the price point that Montana falls into but for me the better ride, the better suspension and removal of known failure points was a no brainer. With our weight being at maximum as well we chose to upgrade to 8k vs 7k. May not be right for everyone but it was the right move for us. To the OP good luck with your decision process. I haven't talked to a single person of multiple 5er brands that has regretted installing either disc brakes or Moryde IS. Don't forget to address tires and wheels
