I like your post, Wordsmith.
I have two opposing random thoughts that comes to mind:
1. It would only take ONE time NOT having a gun to totally change someone's life, or someone they love.
2. Someone with a gun could get themselves into hot water that they would not have been in, if they didn't have the extra artifical boldness to confront a situation that they should NOT have confronted.
I'm pro-gun... just random thoughts.
