Look at the bulb used in your fixtures. If...

Look at the bulb used in your fixtures. If automotive bulbs, then they are 12vdc. If screw in household bulb, then 120vac.

Think you need to meter the fixture to see if 12vdc makes it through the switch. I would guess that would be your issue. Our fixtures in the rear have switches on the light fixture and use a bulb...
