I agree, but this isn't the first time that I've heard of that scenario working. Magnum evidently makes some squirrely 2k inverters. Just glad the OP got his to working.

Sometimes on ours I have to cycle the DC input...

Sometimes on ours I have to cycle the DC input power to the Magnum inverter off, then back on again. After doing so I can hear the transfer relay energize and have inverted 120vac. Hope your solution...
