Sorry, assumed Lithium batteries. Lead acid can also handle constant charging. I still think disconnecting is first choice.

I don't believe there is any technical reason you shouldn't leave your panel/charger turned on. I'm assuming you have separate switch like I do for main power and solar, so you can leave main power...
