I've been able to get good service from the heat...

I've been able to get good service from the heat pump by supplementing it with a small ceramic heater near the return. Warmer return air has made the heat pump work well into the 20's.

In our case, it's a Dometic issue. The thermostat is smart enough to find the Heat Pump in the LR and will display that mode when found, but not smart enough to find there is no furnace in the BR.

Carl nailed it. While you're at the converter, make sure the 4 reverse polarity fuses are actually good. Visual inspection sometimes isn't enough. You'll need to check them with an ohm meter....
