The other cause might be the Transfer Switch. They are installed as part of the generator prep package and a rash of them had problems. You didn't happen to be running off of generator power...

True that, but that switch was an either/or switch (not 3-point) and usually mounted on a cabinet wall. Plus there was no fan associated with it.
