Not saying that you should leave them on with dry tanks, but I don’t see how having them on without water in the tanks could hurt anything other than drawing down your battery if you aren’t hooked up...

You could buy one more leveler wedge, slice it in half lengthwise and glue one piece to each of your existing levelers. You might be able to screw or bolt them together as well.
