Don't be afraid of VISITING California. The special license laws don't apply to visitors. Only to the special people living in the state. The 55MPH speed limit while towing anything will apply though...

Californians are "Special"
If you tow a 5er over 15,000# you need a "Special" license.
Again, not if you are just passing through or visiting.

Even our gas and diesel is "Special" ergo it costs...

According to the RAM information on my 2014 4x4...

According to the RAM information on my 2014 4x4 Crewcab Diesel Short bed I have a GVWR of 10,000# and a payload of 2330#. Payload=GVWR-Base weight. Base weight if 7,673#.

So payload is pin weight...
