Both Fantastic Fan and MaxxFan owner's manual...

Both Fantastic Fan and MaxxFan owner's manual says they are designed to touch the cover or anything such as a limb, run for a few seconds and stop. This is normal and will not damage the motor.

Not that I have seen, although I spray painted my skylights with Gloss White Krylon paint. Cuts out almost all of the heat yet lets the light in. It also stops the clear lens from weathering so much...
