Dhuhn, I am a little confused about butyl tape. Some places it is listed as putty tape and others just butyl tape. So is it sort of a thin layer of putty like stuff that sticks very well?? Thanks.

Sort of sounds like key is turned the wrong way in the outside convenience center. If you can pull it out, turn it so you can't pull it out. Assuming your model has the key outside.

I seem to remember another problem someone had. The hole was either cut too big, or the AC unit was bolted on offset leaving a gap on one side. Just one more thing that might be the problem.
