June 3, 4, & 5 are the dates for this years' Temecula Hot Air Balloon & Wine Festival held at Lake Skinner just east of "town" and 5 minutes from "wine country". 158 Full Hook Up sites (Campground "C") has the most pull-throughs---check out their website for a map of the sites and information. $20.00/day & pets are welcome (I think they are a buck each) Phone reservation number is 1-800-234-7275. Reservations for that weekend open today, 3/7/2005 @ 8:00am PDT. The ranger said they "sell-out" within the first hour on the opening reservation day. Still can't figure out my auto-redial on this cell phone....!

We stayed at Vail Lake RV Resort, 5-7 miles east of town, in Dec of 03. Fine place for a Monty. Book early!

One of the wineries has a specialty of fresh bread with Brei cheese baked inside it. Order it as soon as you walk in the door, as they bake it then and there. OMG!! Died and gone to heaven! That, along with a good bottle of Gewertz or a good Reisling...doesn't get much betterthan that.

The Temecula area wineries use the coupon system and charge about 5-7$ for 5 or 6 "tastings", but you get to keep the glass. They are all "logo" glasses, and pretty nice..we have quite a collection after our rainy day tour.
