We had the G614's installed Tuesday as we were leaving for AZ.

The constant worry before of going to fast over 60 down hill or passing was tiring. Worry free this trip.

It also seems I'm getting better fuel mileage.

This was money well spent.

Peace of mind while towing is important. But as Reagan said..."trust but verify." I still have a TPMS on mine.

I have driven from Idaho to Maine with the G614's with no problems. I think the price is worth the peace of mind!

I think having quality tires makes the drive a lot more pleasant. Less stress is good :-).

As another mentioned having quality equipment makes the drive better. Our G614's now have @ 30K miles on them and with the Mor Ryde IS are wearing evenly and again passed this years check by a Goodyear dealer on Cracking or dry rot.

In terms of MPG and ride we did not have 14"s on our 06 3400 and notice no difference in MPG or handling.

In all the time I've been on this forum I do not recall anyone having I real problem with G614 tires. I do recall someone thinking they were wearing uneven. I think even turned out to be a mistake. The China Bombs we won't even go there.

About the only thing better if you have a Heavy Rig is the G114 17.5 tires.

I agree with the TPMS and the G614's as a combo. It makes for less stressful driving seeing everything. I can now see what temperature outside, and altitude, and speed do to the pressure and temp of these great tires, and it makes me adjust my driving accordingly. After driving thru Utah and Arizona, where the speed limits are 75 and 80 MPH with no restrictions on trucks and trailers, I found myself doing 65 mph a lot of the time, unless I was in higher altitude and warm temps, then I would back off a bit. But so far on this last trip, I did not see over 100 degrees on the tires, or 122 PSI on the pressures. Back in California now, and I set the cruise control for 59 MPH, since they have max speed as 55 mph for trailers in the whole state.

I was wondering how someone could tell handling from tires on a 38-40 fifth wheel. I could tell no change in anything going to the G614's ,but I'm sure I will be able to tell when I go to the Sailun S637 :D For sure the price [:p]

I know a lot has been said about G614's. I also know a lot has been said about what air pressure to run in those tires. I switched to 614's this past jul and I am very happy with them.

I want to comment about pressure. With the "china bombs" you HAD to run max psi (80) just to support our heavy Montanas. With the 614's you do not HAVE to run max psi (110). I truly believe that most folks, including myself, are running these tire at a higher pressure than needed thereby creating a harsher ride for the RV. Things get bounced around enough without adding to that.

Here are the numbers to back up my comment. Please note that the numbers I use are gross weights. Weights I should not exceed. My Montana grosses out at 16960 lbs. Assume (which you shouldn't do) a 22% pin weight of 3731 lbs. That leaves a remaining gross weight on the axles of 13229 lbs. Based on the load v psi ratings for the 614's I only need to run 95 psi. Anything over that just makes the sidewalls flex less, allowing for less road shock absorbtion, inducing harsher ride. That being said, I run mine at 100 psi.

These are the load v psi ratings from Goodyear:
3300 lbs @ 90 psi x 4 = 13200 lbs
3415 lbs @ 95 psi x 4 = 13660 lbs
3550 lbs @ 100 psi x 4 = 14200 lbs
3675 lbs @ 105 psi x 4 = 14700 lbs
3750 lbs @ 110 psi x 4 = 15000 lbs

Based on these numbers, if you HAVE to run 110 psi because of your RV weight, you are exceeding axle rating and your gross weight rating. Also based on these numbers, most of us should never HAVE to run anything over 100 psi.

I know everybody has their own opinion about this but I truly believe most of us are unnecessarily inducing a harsh ride for our RV's.

With the exception of the IS system, I would think that our spring systems are our prevention for getting harsh, fast and high shock loads from our tires. I know my rig is rather bouncy now and only four years and 30k plus miles. John

I have the MorRyde 4100 system, and I use 60 degrees outside air temp as my base, and start off with 102 PSI at this temp, and see the pressures rise to about 115 PSI within about 15 minutes, so I agree with you about starting out at 110 PSI being tooo much.
