OK! Just Reese 16K or Husky 16K - Opinions?

MOC experts,

I've discounted the air hitch option, but now am moving to a 16 K Reese or Husky hitch. The dealers between Toronto and Napanee Ontario seem to know only the Husky. I'll bet they get a better volume discount on that product. Is there any reason that anyone has that I shouldn't get a Husky, or should go with Reese. The Easy -Rider (Air Hitch) people use the Reese, but are too diplomatic to suggest why. They have no deal with Reese, just buy 'em and apply.

When we bought our 3295rk, the dealer installed a Reese 20K hitch. That seems to be the most popular around the KC area. This was true with other RV dealers when looking at 5th wheels of different kinds and at the RV shows in the area.

Don't have any experience with the Husky. Just RBW and Reese. I've never heard anything bad about the Husky, though. There are quite a few of them around and in use.

A friend of mine has the Husky and he likes it, I have the Reece and I like it. Go for the one that you think will do the job for you. I think both will do the job with out problems.

i'm not sure if this is appicable, but as an old hand at this fifth wheel stuff, i always go 4 or 5000 pounds higher on the hitch rating than the maximum gross of the 5er. i figure the few extra bucks is not that much, just in case some engineer did not figure right when he designed the hitch. i like to "Benfordize" things like this ... :D

Our 16k Husky has worked out fine. I didn't choose it, our dealer provided it as part of the deal. I have a feeling you pay a bit more the Reese name, but they do make good stuff. Just make sure that you get one that will do for this trailer, and the next...:) You should get one that tilts both side to side and front to back. I have seen hitches that I don't like as well as the Husky, and some that look just as good, but I have not really seen anything better. (Not counting automatic sliders - just conventional hitches). I would go with the Husky, if it is the better deal for you (Make sure you get one of those plastic lube plate things to go with it).

We have a 16K Husky with the 4-way pivoting head and manual slider. We have had zero problems. On a couple of occasions this year we found the only level spot in our camp site was only big enough for the 5ver. The truck was sitting on a slope. With the tilting head we unhitched and later hitched up with no problem.

This is our 1st 5th wheel. So far we have towed about 2000 miles with no problems.

We have a local dealer who sells/installs Husky's and they seem to have the best price for miles around. Your words are encouraging. We're going for that. Your time and interest is appreciated.

I also have a Husky 16k, with pivoting head and slider. Have had no problems in four years of hauling in a lot of different campsites!!!

I also have a Husky 16K Slider that was part of the deal when I bought my first 5er. Ran in to a couple of problems the first year because the hitch was a single pivot. Spent $300 to buy the parts from Valley(which makes the Husky) to convert to a double pivot. Have had no problems since. For the money the Husky in not a bad hitch.

Although I'm very new to this 5th wheel stuff....2 months now....we have a Husky as well and it came as a part of the deal......has the pivot; side to side and front to back and is GREEAAAAAT! Very smooth and not real noisy.....have the 05 F350 as well.....but maybe the diesel drowns out the hitch noise....????:):D:)
