On my 2000 Dodge Dakota I had a lot of trouble with the rotors warping until I put slotted and drilled rotors on it . Then I had no more problems with the warping. The reason is, with slotted and drilled rotors, the braking temperature was reduced by about 70% with greater braking efficiency.

My question is this: has anyone used slotted and drilled rotors on these 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks. If so what has been your result.

There are some aftermarket companies that make high performance brake parts for trucks but they tend to stick to lighter trucks and Yukon Denali, etc. I haven't seen 1 ton applications for these parts. Maybe they are out there someplace.

Glad you asked this question. Our F350 brakes are causing the steering wheel to shake and I assume it is from the rotors becoming warped. Our truck just turned 30,000 miles. Have others had this problem?

I have slotted on my Dodge 2500 2WD. Braking is smoother on long hills, no shimmy from overheating. Ofcourse I also have an Exhaust Brake. When I went to Slotted Disc I also had 1 ton wheel cylinders put on and HD Pads and shoes.

I just replaced the front OEM pads on my 2001 Ram 2500 at 43000 miles. Didn't need the rotors turned and no pulsing, distortion or shimmy in the OEM rotors.[8D]

5er, we put 69,000 on the '99 F350 and 51,000 on the '03 F350 and never had the steering wheel shake problem you describe. It does sound like warped rotors, though.

These guys have rotors and pads for Ford Superduty. I have not tried them (truck too new) but they are highly regarded on other forums. www.appliedrotortechnology.com
