Has anyone towed between these points? Google shows 3 options, all somewhat smaller state highways. I don't mind the smaller highways. Just looking for the better route.

The State 23 to US 402 is the best route. A little hilly in parts, but this is the Ozarks. Beats having to go West on 62.

Better check, hwy 23 may be closed south of Huntsville. Anything across the national forest will be crooked and slow go towing. Might want to think about going to Huntsville then take 412 west to Springdale then I-49 south to I-40 then east. Or go 62 east to hwy 65 south thru Harrison to Choctaw then take hwy 9 to Morrilton. I would go the last way I said and we live in the area.

Thanks for the suggestions. I do like the idea of US highways (62/65) for most of the trip. Especially coming from a "local".

That is a good way to go and you still get some nice scenery. Then if you really want to adventure, then take off from petit Jean and explore hwy 7 north and south of Russellville. Or go over to the pig trail and go into the national forest. Lots of stuff to see from where your going to be staying. Enjoy your adventure and the great ozark mountains.

I have been 7 from Harrison to/from I-30 several times over the years. Beautiful drive. But we will only be at Petit Jean 2 nights so will not be venturing too far.

But how about another suggestion. Leaving Petit Jean and heading back to Texas, what is the best/easiest route from Petit Jean to I-30 heading west?

BB TX, we live near Little Rock and camp at Petit Jean State Park in the spring and fall. Traveling 62 to 65 to 9 would be our recommendation. We've not towed from Eureka Springs to PJSP, but have driven it several times in our car. When towing, we turn off Hwy 9 onto 10, then 324, 155 and 154. We do this because if you hit 154 at Oppelo, you have a straight shot pretty much until you get to the base of the mountain, and when you start up, you have a very sharp corner (maybe 5-10 mph) and it is all up hill from there. Going up the back side of the mountain like we do, it's much easier pulling. It may be a few miles farther, but much easier.

We just saw your post about leaving PJSP headed back to Texas. When we tow from PJSP, we come down the back side of the mountain (per above), hit Hwy 9 south, go east onto Hwy 5 and hit I-30 at Benton and that will take you to Texarkana. The speed limit is 55 all the way to I-30. That is the route we always take to and from PJSP. FYI - There is highway construction on I-30 between Benton and Malvern. It goes down to one lane at exit 111 to exit 106.

Thanks to all. I now have my route planned out. I don't mind an occasional "adventure". But it is also nice to know what to expect in advance.
