We are thinking of attending the "Best in the West BBQ Cook-Off" in Reno, NV next year. Dates are approximately 9/1/05 thru 9/5/05.

Its an outdoor event with:
--Food for sale (ribs, chicken, brisket and fixin's like beans, corn bread, cole slaw and beverages for sale),
--A large Craft Faire,
--A kids area ( Bungee Run, Jumbo Bounce House, 30' Slide, Rock Wall, Cameron the Caterpillar, Survivor Obstacle Course and more!)
--Music and dancing. This last month they had Mumbo Gumbo, Joe Diffee, David Bromberg and his Big Band Reunion, and others.

And as always, there's gambling, shows and those great casino buffets.

About a block away from the event are a couple of RV Parks.

Events in Reno book up fast so I'll be making our reservation within a week. Let me know if you think you might want to go.

Maybe we can turn this into a Rally of sorts.....MOC Rally/West?

:D

Sounds like a lot of fun, however by the time I can decide whether or not we can attend the rv parks will be full. So I will keep checking on my plans. Keep us posted. Happyrving....

Hi Margee,

Boy that sounds like a good time, but we, like your profile says are forced to work. HELP! ;)

Reno is way far away for us! Someday, someway I hope we will be able to full time for at least a little while and get to explore around this great Country of ours. Canada also. Love the west and our buying property in Montana proves that I guess. Only 3 more years by the Grace of God.

I've been reading your posts about Chapters and smaller regional Rallies and it sounds like a great idea. I know someone asked us about it at the Rally. I know we'd be interested but don't know how involved we could be until that old "Have to Work" gets out of the way.

Regional Chapters can be highly energized & organized or they can be laid-back & low key. The one I'd like to organize would be laid-back & low key since we still have to hold down jobs and can only get away for 3 day weekends and one or two one-week vacations.

To organize a Regional meet, all you have to do is find a campgound you'd like to go to, call them and ask them if they can try and put anyone who calls and says they are part of "The Montana Group" in the same area of the campground. Post it here and watch people sign up. You don't have to put money down on a "group site" and everyone who wants to attend calls and makes their own reservations. Can't get much more simple than that.

Other than that, maybe have a potluck dinner. Not a heavy load for one person to do and it will be so much fun whether you get 10 others to sign up or just one other. You'll still be out there camping in your Montana. What a life, eh?:D
