How Much Air Pressure

Now that I have a one-ton truck with dual wheels, how much air should I put in the tires when towing?

I would use the pressures listed on the sticker on the trucks door or door opening

I use the door pressure for the rear on all four. That still leaves me 10# below the tires max.

Yep just look on the door jam,my 2003 chevy says 65PSI on Duallies, Max pressure on tire says 80PSI,So 65PSI-70 is what I do and never had a Blowout

My door sticker says 60psi ... I run rears at 55psi. At 60, the center tread wears faster than the outside tread.

The door jam sticker shows tire pressure at max axle loading.

I run 55-60 loaded in rear. If yours is a daily driver I'd try 45-50 empty rear. Always 65-70 front.

A suggestion, Most DRW trucks are a PITA to adjust or check the rear tires. I went to my local truck shop and bought short valve stem extenders. It is easier if you remove the outer wheel, install the extension and then re-install the outer wheel so the stem is opposite the inner.

Thanks for the advice. I hope everyone doesn't get annoyed with all my questions. I've never towed a fifth wheel before and never owned a dually before. I appreciate all the advice you can offer.:)

It's all good. That's part of the purpose for this site. Everyone has something to offer and nobody minds chiming in and helping out, that's for sure. I've had to use the advice on this site countless times, and will always come here first before looking elsewhere. And usually, I don't have to look anywhere else.

At your earliest opportunity have your truck and trailer weighed by individual wheels. This can be done at the Fall MOC Rally or Escapees has someone who does it among others. Their calculations based on your individual weight will determine the proper pressure for your truck. We had ours weighed at the Fall Rally. It was recommended that we carry 5 lbs. less pressure in our rear truck tires than what the door calls for.
