110 lbs tires?

Was at a RV Resort talking to a fellow camper and he told me that they have a trailer tire that you can have put on your trailer that will hold 110 pounds of air. This is to be the way to go with tires so they do roll over when they get hot! Is this true or dod I get another Campground story? LOL But I would like to know if true

The G rated tires are rated for 110 lb.

Any brand G tire that I know of takes 110 PSI's,so yeah he's right

Hello Willy Bee, there are indeed 3-4 "popular" G rated trailer tires that fit most Montanas. There are Goodyear G614s, Sailun and Geostar G574s to name a few. You will get all kinds of opinions about these tires (and others). I just replaced my Goodyear Marathons (E rated tire) this past weekend with a G rated tire. Much stronger and heavier tire that holds 110 psi. Because I am not familiar with the "Mountaineer", you would have to make sure your wheels will support the extra pressure. Gs hold 110psi. if you upgrade make sure your wheel (rim) allows you to have 110psi tires. it is marked on the wheel inside the rim.

Yep, G614s here and are rated for 110psi.

Since I monitor both pressure and heat on my 614's I can tell you that when you're pulling down I-8 in 100 degree temps my tires do get hot and I run them at 110psi. Not hot enough to be a problem, but the temperature does go up.

I have a question for those of you with the G rated tires! Do you have to run them at maximum inflation or could you run them with a little less pressure as many do with their p/u tires, say 80 psi so that you didn't have to buy new rims! I know a lot of people drive with 55 to 60 psi in their trucks tires which is about 3/4 capacity!

I run 105 PSI cold. I don't think I would want to underinflate to any extreme, though. You might be able to get away with a little less if you're not running heavy, but I don't know about 80. I run my truck tires to the recommended pressures. 70 PSI in front and 65 in the rear (duallies).

No matter what tires you run, you still have to have enough pressure in them to keep the bead seated on the rim during those 90 degree jack knife moves into that premo camp site.

I'm ready to change out to G614's. I checked the rims and saw the 110psi stamping. But I forgot to drop the spare to look at that rim. Our model year is 2012. It's over in storage and was just wondering if anyone knows if there's a chance that rim will be 110 rated.

Tires are designed to run a certain pressure if you deviate from that pressure you are shortening the life of the tire just my opinion. Shorter tire life = more money out of the pocket. Tom
