Rim Capacity

If this topic was already discussed, I apologize. How can you tell the rim capacity on the Montana (2003)? I have had E-rated tires and would like to go higher but not sure if rim can take it. My Es have an 80psi capacity, will the rim hold a higher psi that goes with the G- and H-rated tires? Thank you in advance.

Given the age of your rig, you probably have rims that are limited to the 80 psi tires. Are the wheels 6 lug or 8 lug? If they are 6 lug, you most likely have 6,000 lb rated axles, and can probably use good LT tires.

My rims are stamped on the back side. They say 120 psi

Should be a stamp on the inside of the rim. The 110PSI rated rims did not become standard issue until mid 2010.

You don't have to stay with the flawed E rated ST tires, however. Put some good LT tires on and you'll get many years of safe travel. Many on this forum have done just that.

In 2003 Keystone was using ST tires on all 6000# axles (LRD or LRE).

Also, in 2003 Keystone was tooling up for LT tires on all 2004 & 2005 models with 6000# axles. They were using rims rated for 3042# at 80 psi.. So you may have a set of those rims if you have a late model 2003.
