I have a 09 2980RL Montanna. I am second owner purchasing from original owner. My Tredit rims are stamped on inside of wheel "3500lbs" When I decided to installed new tires this year I called Tredit asking if this rim is a 80 or 110 psi rim. Tredit's answer was rims are only good for 80psi. I specifically ask ' "If rim is stamped 3500 can I inflate to 110 if needed?" Tredit response was ALL 09 are only good for 80psi @3020lbs. I call this response "covering their butts." If the rim is stamped 3500 I think the rim could use the higher psi which I will not do anyway.

I installed Michelin XPS Ribs and aired to 80 psi. After weighing unit the Ribs can more than accommodate the unit.

Even if Tredit is giving the "lower limits", I won't stretch anything to do with tires or rims to the max limits. I NEVER...NEVER...NEVER...want to deal with blow outs that cause trailer damage or even flat tires while on the road. I know it is often discussed on the forum about damage from blown tires and the expensive repairs/replacement, which is a huge issue. But I worked several fatal accidents over the years that involved disabled vehicles pulled off on the shoulder of the road. The average person just doesn't realize how dangerous it is to be stopped on the shoulder of an interstate. Everything I can do to keep that from happening I do, and that starts for me with the correct tires, rims, etc....

There's a good reason they are "covering their butts" on your rims and not on mine. I think you did exactly the right thing.

I have worked successfully with Tredit on a couple of issues, and I would take their word on their rim capacities.

There is a difference between the weight rating and the pressure rating.

Pressure is the internal force trying push the wheel outward. Too much pressure and the metal could fatigue and fail.

Weight is the force being applied downward on the wheel due to weight on the axle. Too much weight could cause the metal to fatigue and fail.

Your OEM ST tires probably are rated for about 3,400 lbs of weight at 80 psi air pressure. So the wheels needed to be rated for 3,500 lbs weight at 80 psi.

The Ribs are only rated at 3,042 lbs weight at the same 80 PSI.

Call Tredit back and send them a picture of your rims. They may have been changed. My 2009 has newer rims on it and they are stamped 110PSI max on the inside and are of a much different appearance than the old ones. I put the old ones on a trailer my partner and I use to haul antique engines to shows for display.

As I said on the other thread regarding mach111 3500 lb wheels...no they are not 110 psi max wheels... 80 psi max rims usually note 3420 lbs max and 80 psi max pressure. 110 psi max also state 3710 lbs max. John
