View Full Version : Taking a poll for MOC fulltimers

05-20-2012, 03:45 AM
Hi all, My wife has asked me a number of times " I wonder how many Montana Owners are fulltimer's "? It's a good question and fiqured I'd post it and find out how many like us are out there.

05-20-2012, 04:02 AM
We're new at it, but count us in. The Monty is a good full time rig so I imagine there are a number of us.

05-20-2012, 04:41 AM
We were Monty fulltimers for 7 plus years- Enjoyed the liveability of our unit but had to trade up to a sob in Dec 2011- Still consider ourselves as MOCers- Would have traded for another Monty but economics made our choice for us- JMHO- Don

Count us as Monty FTers too! :)

06-01-2012, 03:51 AM
We have been fulltiming for 4 years now....my husband's job takes us all over the place, so much nicer with our Montana to just pull in and not worry about where we are going to live.

06-02-2012, 05:24 PM
We have been full timing since October 2010. Were both working full time so no traveling around for us yet. But look forward to it.

06-19-2012, 08:34 AM
We will have been full-timers two years on June 24!

For the past 1.5 years, we have been static at a job in New Jersey, but that's okay with me. We're on-site at a job which has virtually no stress. We have a lovely setup here and spend much of our working hours outdoors.

My dream of full-timing started 10 years ago and I'm in bliss finally living it!

Hi Everyone:

We are new to Montana having purchased a 2013 3800RE Hickory edition.
We have been 7 years full timing. We live in Alberta, Canada, in the Summer and in Apache Junction ( Mesa ) Arizona in the winter. We are on the road for at least a month each year having visited 22 states so far. Moved from a 2004 Carriage Cameo LXi. No end in site.

Love the Montana !

09-15-2012, 02:32 AM
The full time adventure is about to begin. The stick house is sold and we are scheduled to take delivery of our 3700RL in mid-October. In the meantime we have been living snugly in our living quarters horse trailer. I guess technically we have been full timing for a month and a half now in SOB. The horse trailer is like living in Motel 5-7/8. It doesn't quite measure up to Motel 6. When the Monty arrives it will be like the Jefferson's movin' on up to the East Side.

09-15-2012, 06:07 AM
Good luck to all the FTers on the MOC. We are hopeing to join you in August 2013....

Was fulltiming in a Colorado 28RK, either I was going to be divorced or DEAD!....one big room isn't condueceive to FT. We traded up 6/10 for a FL3750; problem solved...it's our private oasis as you can see from signature pics. (without being political); we will be doing this until the housing market allows us to sell the Rental home and build here in WA....then we can use the Montana for traveling again.

09-20-2012, 06:46 PM
We starting our full timing May of 2007 that make five yrs and 4months. Still love it.

09-21-2012, 02:17 PM

12-02-2012, 07:36 AM
Hi Guys:

We are into our 8th year full timing. Never had so much fun and met
so many nice people. We are new to MOC having bought a 2013 3800RE trading a 2004 Carriage Cameo LXi. Love the Montana.

12-02-2012, 07:55 AM
Okay, since this is a poll for FT or not, I'll be on the side of not. The Monty sits next to the stickhouse driveway with enough room around it to set it up like we can live in it. Then there's the occassional times that we do take it out and enjoy it by ourselves or along with others.

I think I could have the mentality to be a full timer and make some necessary adjustments, but with many other family, friends, or living styles or commitments we prefer not to overcome, we aren't able to pull that trigger. Others will do just fine with it! There are sacrifices to be made with both life styles along with rewards. I hope either style decision is made with the least amount of surprises to make things easier.

It's nice to know I do have ownership of a nice FT capable rig but I have run into many others who have lesser and are quite comfortable with theirs in light of their circumstances. It's about how positive we can make any negative situation in YOUR regard and it helps if your companion makes the same adjustments. Keeping a positive mental state at all times will help. I have also met plenty of very grumpy stickhouse owners you'd wish would be FTers so they can be away somewhere else. To each their own.

It's been fun reading so many success stories for full timers. One wonders if you'll ever hear of the FT dissenter for those that are out there wishing they weren't. Maybe they don't have Montanas and that's why... :) I don't know.

12-05-2012, 05:59 AM
Hard to believe we've been full-timers for 2.5 years. No lookin' back, no regrets. We are still very pleased with our Monty!

07-08-2013, 11:55 AM
A year and a month fulltime in a 2007 Montana we bought used. More fun in that year than the 68 before.

07-08-2013, 04:59 PM
RV life is a good life. Kind a like living in a condo, but you don't have to pack a bunch of stuff to move

09-01-2013, 08:26 PM
We have been full timers for almost 7 months. We have enjoyed every second of it!

09-02-2013, 04:38 AM
It has only been 4.5 months since the house sold and we went full time. It was an easy adjustment and there have been no negatives. We hope to continue for several years while touring the country.

09-02-2013, 05:00 AM
We celebrated our 1 year anniversary a couple of weeks ago. We love it and have NO REGRETS. We believe this was one of the best decisions we have ever made.

Sorry hit button twice.

Sold my place and 10 acres back in December and bought this fifth wheel at the same time. I have been living in it full time since then and plan on living in it until I retire in about 3 1/2 years, then I want to travel the United States!

11-02-2013, 05:03 AM
Just retired and started full timing on the 1st of October. It was a long 2 year plan that turned to a 5 year plan. Now we are adjusting to the life.

11-02-2013, 11:02 AM
I know there are others who have been fulltiming longer than we have but we're, as of today, at 10 years, 7 months, 12 days and counting...

And all of it in Montanas.

11-02-2013, 03:27 PM
One year wedding anniversary on 11/09/2013, one year FT anniversary on 11/16/2013. We are loving it, even with the occasional glitch with the trailer. We plan on fulltiming until we just pull up to the rest home and turn over the keys.

11-03-2013, 02:33 AM
We posted on this thread last year as the adventure was about to begin. Since that time we have been in 15 states and 1 province of Canada. Both Bonnie and I are very much in love with our new full time lifestyle. All of the uncertainties of full timing have been laid aside. When we talk about home it's our Big Sky, not where the stick house used to be. We have visited friends and family for extended periods without intruding in their homes. And best of all, we no longer have to contend with the uncertainties of winter in the north.

Count us in, we just started 5 months ago. Enjoying it and will do it until we stop enjoying. Our Montana's name is Home.

We just bought our 3400RL but intend to be fulltimers as soon as our house sells - just got it on the market last week.

03-10-2015, 07:08 AM
Coming up on three years. It's hard to argue with no more winter weather. If I get a bug to go skiing, I can go do it...don't have to live in the cold all winter long. John

03-10-2015, 01:38 PM
Set Out on our fulltiming adventure first of August 2014, better than imagined. Love it love it love it

03-14-2015, 03:45 AM
We are just completing our 5th year, no plans to go back to S&B anytime soon

03-14-2015, 08:22 AM
Coming up on three years FT. Loving every minute of it.

03-14-2015, 08:28 AM
Full time for our jobs. Own a home we get to "visit" about twice a year.

03-15-2015, 06:16 PM
Started full timing in May 2014. A couple months parked at a relative's, but so glad to be back on the road again. Both of us work 40+ hours a week out of our Montana 3750FL. This requires discipline and tolerance and a sense of humor (aka love). Quality of life is 500% better now that we are RVers, instead of working from a rented home as we did before. The scenery is fresh and new every couple of weeks. That takes the edge off, puts everything into perspective, and keeps us from getting bored.

04-01-2017, 10:24 PM

Hey All:

My wife and I started full time RVing in 2005. We retired when I was 55. Started with SOB and came to our senses in 2012 with a Montana 3800RE. Most winters in Arizona, summers in Alberta and 3 months traveling each year. Met many wonderful people.
Had to retire from RVing in 2018 due to health problems. What a wonderful experience.
Happy trails to all.

Was full timers from 1997 till 2002 when wife’s health issues forced us to buy a s&b sold RV Death in 2005. Remarried in 2009. Full time again since March 2018. Loving it again

We’re now on our second year of full timing and love the simple worry free “camping every day” lifestyle.
