How is the RV Traffic this Year??

Last week we drove without the Monty San Antonio to Tulsa, OK to Branson, MO and then returned. We did not seem to see as many RVers out as we had in the past. I think the traffic in Branson, MO was down a bunch from previous years that we had visited--don't get me wrong--traffic around 6 pm still did not move up or down 76 in Branson! We stayed out at Indian Point on Table Rock Lake and there were no crowds out there. What have you seen on your travels this year?? We are heading West to CA, OR,and WA in a few weeks so we will see who is traveling out west.

Just traveled 95 and 81 north and south from Pa. to FL. We saw a lot of RVers.

We visited family last weekend. Traveled from NC to NY and back. We saw a whole lot of RV's.

I'm seeing tons of RV'ers on the road and in the campgrounds. Parks are 90% full where we stop. It is the season. 4th of July weekend is booked up at most places.

Tim, I have just arrived in Crescent City for 8 days and will be going UP the OR coast for the next 6 weeks. Give me a call when you get out here. BTW, Parks are not full yet but pretty close.....Phil

Tim, We were in Branson the weekend of the 19th. Hope that wasn't the same time you and Susan were. If so it was an oppurtunity to visit lost. We visit Branson at least twice a year just because it is so close and I fish the area lakes. Branson traffic is really down. I would guess 35 to 40% based on vehicle traffic and show attendance. The campground we stayed at was probably 60% full. On this same trip we stayed at a State Park in Missouri and a Corp park in Arkansas. Through the week we basically had the run of the place as in no other RV'ers there. Weekends were a litlle more busy. In our area I guarentee you RV traffic is down.

We were able to move freely around Branson in July of last year. It was very slow.Rv trafic seems to be picking up a bit. Still down from 3 years ago. We were at a C.G last week end and it was far from full.Florida was down during the winter.Our park had open sites all year. Diosney was very slow and has been for the last 3 years. Our observation is that is up a bit but still far from normal.

On our travels east from CA this Spring, we also noticed that there appeared to be less RV travelers on the road.

Just drove back to Boston from Cleveland on Rt 90 on Sunday and saw a good number of RV's on the road. I wouldn't be able to compare with past experiences but there seemed to be a healthy number.

We are seeing tons of RV's across I-90.. Way more then usual... I think everyone is trying to find cooler weather... We found it in Coeur D'Alene... 43 degrees this morning..

Lots of empty spaces at present in the campgrounds down here in Arizona. Of course, that may be due in part to temperatures that have consistently been in triple digits!!!!

Just got home last week from 27 Day/26 Night trip. Dallas->Grand Tetons->YellowStone->Redwoods->San Francisco->Yosemite->San Diego->Joshua Tree->Dallas all Campgrounds were 80% full or better except Redwoods/Cresent City (60%. I think people were leaving early due to weather, it kept raining) and Joshua Tree/29 Palms, CA (30% but afternoon temps around 105*).

Tetons/Yellowstone had very good crowds for early June. More than usual (we go every year)

Yosemite was very crowded (at least for us). Our neighbor said it took 1/2 hour just to get thru the gate his first day there.

Things are picking up. It was a long cold wet spring and people did not start traveling until 3rd week of June. I think we will have a great indian summer/fall. With all the rain we had in N.CA things should stay green and lakes and rivers full. In N.CA where we are working for the summer they extended sport salmon fishing in the ocean from Memorial Day w/e to Labor Day w/e. That should help. Mid-week you can usually get a spot without reservation, but thurs,fri,sat forget it or if you plan to stay 3-5 days and you don't want to move it can be dffucult. As a nice sidetrack to the reality of work, I like to meet the DW at the local big name coffee place in town. This a spot where people traveling 101, 109, 105 and 12 all are on the same road for a short time. We love to watch the many Rv's come through. This year has been slow on the coast of WA state, but I blame the crummy weather. The last couple weeks as the weather improved, so did the traffic. Area campgrounds doing well when it's nice here.

We leave early tomoroow for Canada and should be able to get a great feel for the numbers as we will be one of them!

Hey' welcome to North Idaho. The park on Blackwell Island seems to be filling up.

We regularly drive I-15 between Idaho Falls and the I-90 cutoff to Butte, and the "back roads" and I-90 between Dillon and Bozeman. Since the end of April, we've seen what we think are more RVs on those roads than in years past. A lot of the rigs have Canadian plates, because I-15 is one of the major highways Canadian RVers use when they head south. However, we've seen lots of other plates from all over the United States.

RVing where we live, in southwest Montana (one of the biggest recreational areas in the state), is definitely up from last year. All the campgrounds around Clark Canyon Reservoir have been filled to near capacity for the last month; the reservoir is full of water, and fishing in it and on the Beaverhead River are the best they've been in years--terrific, in fact. Normally, there are lots of spaces available everywhere around the reservoir.

Our family is camping with friends this July 4th weekend, and had some family members not set up camp earlier this week, we wouldn't have had a place to park the rigs. The campground was probably 98% full by Wednesday.

In a nutshell, lots of RVs on the move up here!

we just got back from 5 weeks on the road-to PA, VA, MS, and MN and inbetween. we did not see many on the road until after about the 15th of June. Not many in a lot of campgrounds- even near Boston there were about 8 empty sites on the weekends. Here in NE we have 2 state Parks that are only partly open because of the flooding, they are FULL, as of Wed. nite

Monday on our way from Tampa to south Ga we saw a lot of RVs traveling both north and south along I75. Today, pretty much the same.

In the park were we are staying, rigs pass through daily and move on because there is "no vacancy" and has been that way for two months. A waiting list exists. When I go to Seattle, there are many rigs on the road.

Over the past two days we traveled from Colorado back to East Texas. We met many RVs on the way to Colorado or New Mexico. On US 287 from Amarillo to Wichita Falls we met many RVs, mostly fifth-wheels, many towing double, mostly with trailer with four wheelers or motorcycles.

Although I'm seeing a lot of RV's on the road, the campgrounds we are staying at are not full. Even the KOA after the Holidays in Colorado Springs had many spots available. We are now in Garden City, KS and it 1730 hours and the RV Park is only about 30% full (70% Empty if you are a negative person). So depending on the beaten path you are taking, the more common routes are going to be more full than the off the path routes. We covered 250 miles in 5 hours today on I-25 for about 40 miles than US-50 out of Pueblo, CO. US-50 was not a bad road. A few bumps here and there but for the most part it was good.

Tomorrow we head to Amarillo, TX and will be staying at Oasis RV Resort. There was no problem getting reservations today for 3 nights.

Heavy west bound on the Ohio and Ind tpk also many transporters heading Eastbound. KOA campground is over half full in the middle of the week.

Going north on I75 and east on I40 through Tenn this morning, we saw "some" RV traffic, but not a lot (but we were traveling early to beat the heat; perhaps the RV traffic will pick up later in the day). The park we are staying in today is at about one third capacity.
