Got a big one planned for this year. From home we will go to Utah to help the wife's uncle recover from a heart valve replacement. Then, slowely, across country to see my sister in Bradenton, Florida. Then to a 50 year reunion in Chattanooga (TN); Mammoth Caves (KY); retirement home hunting in the Ozarks; Mesa Verde (CO), Canyon de Chelly (AZ); Rapid City (SD); and back to Utah to check on the uncle again. The trip will be about 8,000 miles but now necessarily in this order. We might even head back toward Oregon to watch the moose, deer, etc. in the fall.

If I do some of the driving can I go?

I suggest that Monument Valley be in the list since you will be near there at Canyon de Chelly and Mesa Verde. "Near" is a relative term in the west! Have a great year!

Say, Mr. Lasater... is that your new truck in the picture?[:o)]

Nope. That picture is the old one that died. I haven't posted a new picture yet.

Monument Valley is definitely on our list to be seen. We stopped at Mesa Verde once before but it is worth a 2nd visit.

Well-if you are going up to Rapid City from AZ, take hwy 191 to I70 and stop at Canyonlands and Arches on the way!

We are actually beginning the trip from Salt Lake City. The DW's uncle has open heart surgery this week in SLC. So, off to house and spouse sit with his wife (stage II "oldtimers" disease). From there we go to Arches, Monument Valley, Mesa Verde, and on and on and on.

We expect to be back in our stick house mid to late October. I anticipate a 10,000 run by the time we get back.

Well, let's see. I bought the Dodge in late March. Got the spray-liner, aux fuel tank, and B&W hitch put in, then hit the road. We now have 23,000 miles on the truck. We are back home now in Arizona trying to save enough to buy fuel for next year. If anyone hits the lottery and has an extra 5 or 10 grand to give away, we will gladly help you find a tax deduction.;)

Have a wonderful safe trip. Jim & I took a three month trip from our home in Maine to tour some of the southwest and our great national parks. By the time we were done we had put 13,000 miles on the truck. Doesn't take long to add up. Unfortunately the price of diesel is going up again.
Enjoy the adventure,
Jim & Marge

We just got back from a 16 day trip to Texas, from Central VA to Nashville, Texarkana, Austin, San Antonio, Houston, Baton Rouge, Destin FL and Stone Mtn GA....really nice trip...good weather, no troubles...about 3400 miles total...sure wish we were retired or could hit the road for 2-3 months at a time...maybe one day....

Looking for a retirement home in the Ozarks is a good choice. Made that decision 5.5 years ago and never regretted it. But, shhhhhh! Don't let others discover the Ozarks.
