We just got to Seward and will be meeting with Tammy and Bernie (Icehouse) while here.

Spent 12 days in Homer and just loved it there. Enjoyed the company of David and Jo-Anna and their friends on the Spit over the 4th of July. Cold and rainy, but great company!

Yes, 4th of July on the Spit was fun. Had a barbeque and camp fire as it was quite cold!! Pam made GREAT brownies -- yum yum.

Here we are with fellow MOCers Bob and Pam, enjoying a warm fire on the beach!

We are in Seward with Gofnuts and we met Bernie and Tammy last night here at the Stoney Creek RV Park where we are staying. What a great time we had talking with them. Bernie and Tammy sure have a lot of stories to share with you about there adventures in Alaska. It is great meeting other MOC members and especially when they are from the area you are visiting. Bernie and Tammy told us all about where to eat and what to see while we are here. If you are ever in this area it is a MUST to get together with them, they are great people.

Bernie and Tammy, we thoroughly enjoyed meeting you last night at our Montana with Doug and Sharon here at Stoney Creek RV Park. (Actually, Dutchess sure had fun meeting you also.) Thanks again for the bottle of wine. (Tammy couldn't believe our doormat: We drink only the finest California wines, Did you bring any? guess what, they did!) Your stories of winter and your experiences at Bethel were very interesting to say the least. Every MOC member coming to Alaska needs to put Bernie & Tammy on their list to visit, just like Denali, Seward, Valdez or Homer!!!

Bob and Pam, Bernie and Tammy told us last night that you are leaving Seward today. Guess we will just miss you. We are headed into town later this morning, if we see a Montana, we will flash our lights!!

DHenry and Gofnuts - Darn, we just missed you! We left this morning for Anchorage and are now at Ship Creek RV Park. Tammy and Bernie are treasures and should be appointed official MOC representatives of Alaska. Actually, the state of Alaska should hire Tammy as a PR person!! They are the best.

Tammy,

Dutchess is already spoken for! She will be staying with her friend Bandit! They have a close and long term relationship going so if she ever is in need of a new home she already has one! She is a darling isn't she?!

Bob & Pam, we agree, Tammy should be the official PR Person for Alaska. We went on the walk at the two lakes yesterday that they recommended. It was a beautiful walk. However, when we saw fresh bear stuff, we headed back toward the truck. There was a sign posted that momma and cub had been sighted there recently. You should have heard our chatter as we walked, the bears were probably thinking, wish those noisey people would go away!

Tammy and Bernie, I'm sure we will get together again before we leave. Hope Mr. Wilson is doing okay after yesterday. We also went to the Exit Glacier yesterday, absolutely beautiful, and no bears!! We are going on the Kenai Fijords tour today. Talk to you later. We'll have to watch you closely however to make sure Dutchess doesn't disappear. She is very attached to her Mom & Dad!!

Dennis, sure is good to know Dutchess has a choice of homes should she need a new one!! Take care!

Mr. Wilson is doing very well, sore, but good after surgery yesterday. We had a long day (up at 4:45 and on the road to Anchorage by 5:30.) Although we were in bed and lights out by 9:30 last night! You will have a wonderful time on the cruise today! I just wish it was sunny for your trip, but that was last Saturday and we won't see any more sunshine for at least a week.

Dennis, Dutchess is adorable!!! We were watching she and Lexi play and one would sit and watch the other chew their chew toy. The minute that chew toy hit the ground, the other had it. They were so fun to watch!

Bandit first met Dutchess at Quartzsite. She came into our trailer where Bandit and I were sitting. They did the doggie introduction thing and then started chasing each other from one end of the rig to the other! I was one end of the run and they would come running and jump into my lap and then launch themselves back the other direction. Just pure jumping and running JOY! It was a wonderful sight to see! And she is the most lovable little girl I've seen.

Our cruise of the Kenai Fijords National Park yesterday was absolutely gorgeous and one of the highlights of our trip. The weather actually was great and the water smooth most of the way. The rocky areas with trees reminded us a lot of the Monterey Peninsula and Big Sur, but of course a different kind of tree line. We were so totally amazed at the sounds of the Aialik Glacier (a tidewater glacier). The captain shut the engine down and we stood there in silence, then all of a sudden the glacier sounded like there were fireworks going off; sometimes, like thunder rolling and then some calving, what a sight! Oh, and I almost forgot to mention the beautiful aqua blue color of the glacier. We also saw sea otters, seals and sea lions, puffins, a mountain goat high on a very slopped hillside, Dall's porpoise, bald eagles, and a baleen whale. What a day!!! Alaska truly is beautiful.
