OK. Lets hear it from all you old pros. What is the best hitch for a short bed truck?

I've traded trucks (an 03 GMC 2500hd Crew Cab Short Bed). When I bought my Big Sky 3295, they threw in a 16k Reese slider hitch and I hav'nt installed my hitch yet. I might upgrade to an air hitch, But it has to be a slider.
I would like to hear from some of you that has some extensive towing, and what kinds of hitches, name brands prices ect.
