Our German Shepard's hips have finally decided to do the same thing our other shepards did. Give out. Hip dysplacia. Carrying a 100 pound dog up and down the stairs is getting to be a strain. He can't make it by himself. Falls up them and down them.
These stairs on this unit are something else. Our company, that just left, had trouble with them too.
Now we will try to find a vet here in the Hershey/Harrisburg area. He needs a shot of cortizone. Our other shepards had the hip proplem but at a younger age. Mike will be 10 in August.

Ask the campground owners/workers. We had an emergency with Gallagher a couple of years ago, Abby and he were playing, she bit his eye and scratched it. I called my vet at home, got him out of emergency surgery and asked a lot of questions, he told me what he thought the dog should have in way of meds.

When we stopped for the night, the first question out of my mouth, was, do you know a GOOD vet here in town. Campground owners said, yep, gave me number, told me how to get there, etc.

I called, it was Easter weekend, the vet met me in his office (lucky for us, right next to his domicile) and I told him the situation, showed him the dog and eye and he agreed with my vet, gave me the meds and did not charge me an arm and a leg.

Campground owners/workers like hotel and convention people, have emergenies all the time, they know who to call. I'll just bet they can help you out!

Good luck

Carol's advice to ask the campground owner/host is excellent. Also, if the recommended vet is a member of the American Animal Hospital Association you will know that they have been through an additional certification/examination process. We travel with cats and dog so know the necessity of finding good care in a hurry when needed. Good luck with Mike.
