By way of background ... I have 10,000 miles on my truck and the front tires are starting to show some "cupping" on the inside and outside tread of the two front tires. I talked to the service guy at the Chevy dealer and he seemed to think that I must have an alignment problem. But when I checked with the Goodyear Service Center I was asked if it was a 4x4. Since it is, I was told that the tires will naturally cup because of the heavy front end and the way to minimize it is to rotate the tires.

I have resisted rotating the tires due to the expense and the fear that when the inside tires are flipped to the outside that the steel rims will be cruddy and rusted beyond the ability to make them look nice. Do any of you have any experience with this and have any recommendations for cleaning the inside wheel when it is flipped to the outside?
