We have traveled around for the last 3 days looking at Arizona, with a tent, left our Montana in Apache Junction. We stayed in a campground in Grand Canyon Nat. Park called "Desert View Campground. The campground is terrible, they do not have any campground host and we did not see a single ranger while there. The bathrooms were dirty, no tp paper, doors on stalls falling off, and no one to enforce any rules. People were up till almost midnight having loud parties, barking dogs, and some pretty rough people just driving thru. Even saw two guys walking around with pistols on their sides. Never saw one ranger the entire time there. Drove thru the park and the roads are terrible, a lot of construction going on but did not see any active work while there. Went to the Desert View lookout area and went into the tower there, it was in pretty rough shape. The handrails on the stairwell going up into the viewing tower were nasty to touch. Sticky and dirty, had to wash hands after touching them once. Went into the gift shop/visitor center there and had to dodge buckets all over the place because the cieling was leaking all over the place. The canyon itself was beautiful and glad we got to see it but don't plan on going back again. On our way back to Apache Junction we went thru Sedona, Az and it was beautiful. Sedona has the Grand Canyon beat 10 to 1. You not only get to look at the canyon but you can drive thru it and see it up close. Will check out the campgrounds in the area in the future and let you know about them.
